Another year come and gone...

Another year of documenting days, of meeting families, of seeing kids grow. Another year of business expansion with more clients than ever and the introduction of the Legacy Portrait. Another year of masks, distancing, and uncertainty. I'm thankful for all of the good and for all of the lessons learned from the bad.

At the beginning of the year I went out on a limb to offer a new service, The Legacy Portrait. It's been a bigger success than I ever thought and I'm looking forward to the next round of LP's in 2022. The Legacy Portrait has been inspired by the classic portraits of early photography. A plain backdrop. One light source. Looking just off camera. I've always admired the simple beauty of these portraits. I also greatly admire the history and process. Over the holiday I was gifted a few tools and some equipment to get my own darkroom up and running. in 2022 I hope to tinker around with film again and maybe see if I can do a few Legacy Portraits with more traditional means in the future. Stay tuned....

After a quiet summer came a busy, busy fall. It was great to meet new clients and to take on more newborn sessions than ever before. Babies will always hold a dear place in my heart for all those years spent working in the infant room at a daycare. In 2022 I'm looking forward to seeing these little ones grow and to meeting some for the first time.

So much happened in 2021 that its overwhelming to being to reflect upon it all. I moved, I traveled, I got closer to some folks in my life and further away from others. What I take away from it all is at the end of the day I was productive and I grew. And after 2020, one of the hardest years and when so much was stagnant, it felt twice as good to be outside and doing something. Here's to 2022. Here's to growth and productivity. I'm hopeful that this next year M.Photo will keep going, keep documenting those days, keep meeting new families, and keep seeing little ones grow. It all happens on the hope and the prayer and the recommendations of everyone!
